ELLEN VON UNWERTH
Ellen von Unwerth (born 1954 in Frankfurt, Germany) is a photographer and director, specializing in erotic femininity. She worked as a fashion model for ten years herself before moving behind the camera, and now makes fashion, editorial, and advertising photographs.
The interesting thing about her work, is that she is a women (and feminist) yet she oversexualises women and objectifies them. Her work is very erotic and I think that the very fact she is a women and objectifying women, makes her work all the more powerful. She is almost reclaiming the sexualisation of women.
These bottom two are possibly my favourites, the cliche scene on the left, with nice interaction of multiple models. I also like the 60s housewife style, and feel I could possibly emmulate something like this in my work, if I focused on specifically objecifying them in a sarcastic manner, showing how the media portrays women perhaps. In addition I love the right photo, broaching a contraversial topic of children wearing makeup.
